Press Release Summary = NEW YORK, NY- On June 14, 2007 Disaster Chaplaincy Services
(DCS), a major provider of skilled and interdisciplinary chaplaincy services in the
New York Metropolitan area will host an Inaugural Tribute Event to honor its
chaplains delivered outstanding non-sectarian spiritual care during Staten Island
Ferry Crash, Woodycrest Bronx Fire, Sheepshead Bay Fire, September 11th World Trade
Center 5th Year Commemoration and Northeast U.S. Blackout. In 2006, DCS chaplains
provided skilled spiritual care to the New York Metropolitan communities by engaging
in more than 1,852 contacts with individuals during crisis and disaster.

Press Release Body = Disaster Chaplaincy Services is a non-for-profit organization
that ensures, serves as the only truly multi-faith group in New York tri-state area
that trains, credentials and deploys chaplains on behalf of the faith communities to
provide spiritual first aid to the New York Metropolitan community in times of
crises. Based in New York City, Disaster Chaplaincy Services (DCS) provides
educational support to its growing number of over 160 qualified chaplains that can
be deployed at any time to deliver non-sectarian chaplaincy care in times of

In March 2007, Disaster Chaplaincy Services and the American Red Cross in Greater
New York entered into an official Statement of Understanding (SOU) to continue
working relationships in preparing for and responding to disaster relief situations

chaplaincy support will continue ensure a more complete continuum of spiritual care
that respects each person's faith tradition.
